JESUS WAS RIGHT
What do we followers of Jesus feel when we dare to believe the truth that God has raised Jesus? What goes on inside us while we keep walking in his footsteps? How do we communicate with him when we experience him full of life?
Risen Jesus, you were right.
It’s true what you have told us about God. Now we know that God is a faithful Father, worthy of complete trust. A God who loves us even beyond death. We will keep calling out «Father» with more faith than ever, as you taught us. We know that God will not deceive us.
Risen Jesus, you were right.
Now we know that God is a friend of life. Now we begin to understand better your passion for a life that is more healthy, just and happy for all. Now we comprehend why you preferred the health of the sick to any law or religious tradition. Following your footsteps, we will go about healing life and alleviating suffering. We will always put religion at the service of people.
Risen Jesus, you were right.
We know now that God does justice to innocent victims: God makes life triumph over death, the good over evil, the truth over lies, love over hate. We will keep struggling against evil, lies and abuse. We will always seek the reign of this God and God’s justice. We know what is the main thing the Father wants of us.
Risen Jesus, you were right.
We now know that God identifies Self with the crucified, never with the executioner. We begin to understand why you were always with those in pain and why you so defended the poor, the hungry, the despised. We will defend the most weak and vulnerable, those maltreated by society and forgotten by religion. From now on we will listen better to your call to be compassionate like the Father in heaven.
Risen Jesus, you were right.
Now we begin to understand a little about your most harsh and strange words. We begin to intuit that the one who loses her life for you and for your Gospel will save it. We now comprehend why your invite us to follow you until the end carrying the cross each day. We will keep suffering a little for you and for your Gospel, but very soon we will share with you the embrace of the Father.
Risen Jesus, you were right.
Now you are alive forever and you make yourself present in our midst when two or three of us are united in your name. Now we know that we aren’t alone, that you accompany us while we walk toward the Father. We will listen to your voice when we read your Gospel. We will be nourished on you when we celebrate your meal. You will be with us until the end of time.
